The Turkey

One full-page and two spots for Flannery O'Connor's short story "The Turkey". The story follows a young boy who chases a wounded turkey through the woods, all the while imagining how impressed his family will be when he brings it home. As he pursues the bird, he pretends to be a heroic cowboy chasing a cattle rustler. When the turkey eventually manages to escape, the boy must deal with his understanding of God and fate.

 

These were done, as I'm sure you can tell, in Illustrator. I may post a follow-up with sketches.
